Caring for each other and those around us is a core value at Christ Church.
York House is home to ten people with severe learning and other disabilities situated immediately behind Christ Church.
It was opened over twenty years ago to cater for the needs of disabled people in the church and elsewhere in Shropshire.
The building was financed by Christ Church, Bayston Hill and Prospects, a Christian organisation for people with learning disabilities. The home is managed by Prospects and it is funded by the local authority, although additional donations for improvements are very welcome.
York house has a strong Christian ethos and many of the residents attend services at Christ Church and one is an honorary assistant warden.
Volunteers help York House with fundraising and social activities. Those who get involved get plenty of staff support and find it a very rewarding activity. More information is available from the church office, tel: 01743 872088
