our new curate and husband
I am studying at St Mellitus’ College, London, (linked to Holy Trinity Brompton), the newest theological college in the Church of England. This has involved a day a week in London plus some weekends studying academic theology and leadership for growing Churches. The rest of my time has been spent in practical ministry, both in Harlescott and Meole Brace Parishes. In the few hours I have left, I enjoy reading, cooking, walking and vintage “stuff”.
Martin and I met at a Salvation Army summer music school. We became Anglicans almost by accident at Newcastle University due to the fantastic student work of Jesmond Parish Church. After a degree in Scandinavian studies I trained as a nurse, before a 10 year career break to start a family and bring up our children. During this time I was involved in leadership of various growth groups and was area representative for Christian Solidarity Worldwide. After we moved to Shrewsbury in 2006 I became Manager of the Trinity Centre in Meole Brace, where the opportunities to bring people into contact with the gospel reawakened a calling to ministry I had first felt as a teenager.
If I could sum up my calling it is simply “to draw attention to Jesus and see broken lives restored”. I’m really excited about what God is doing at Christ Church and I look forward to sharing the journey with you.
Martin says: I work as a paediatrician, and outside of work I enjoy long walks, watching sports, playing football, having friends round for supper, open fires and single malts. I am looking forward to becoming a clergy spouse and joining the life of Christ Church.
Nat says: I’m Nat and I’m 18 years old. I am currently studying music and education at Durham University. My interests outside of music include running and snooker. Because of my commitments I am not around most of the time however when I’m home I look forward to meeting you all.
Aidan says: I’m Aidan (15). I am a drummer and am in a couple of ensembles. I am in my last year at Meole Brace School. I have already met some of you through Soul Purpose and look forward to meeting the rest of you.
Naomi says: I’m Naomi (But most people call me Noam [gnome]) and I’m 14 years old (but commonly act anywhere between 4 and 21). I love singing, acting, singing, talking, singing and eating (cookies especially!!) but sometimes I annoy people because I sing too much. I cannot wait to be a part of Christ Church! :D
Iona says: Hi, My name is Iona. I am the youngest in my family and I’m also looking forward to coming to Christ Church. I am very sporty, a competitive gymnast, and I play the flute. I also love to sing and am in two choirs.
With love from us all.
