Summer Diary Web

Summer Diary 2013

Whether the sun is shining or not we have plenty going on at Christ Church, to brighten up your summer.

In addition to our regular expressions of church throughout the week we have several other main events taking place...

Church Holiday to Lee Abbey

From 27th to 31st May well over 100 from CCBH will be traveling to north Devon for a holiday at Lee Abbey. We have rented the whole house for a holiday week and we will be hosted by the team and community at Lee Abbey. Steve Silvester the Rector of St. Nic’s Nottingham is leading the week for the over 18s programme. An exciting and action-packed youth and children’s programme is also running together with an array of holiday activities to suit all ages.

Welcome to the Smith Family

On Sunday July 7th we have a combined morning service at 10 a.m. to welcome Mia Smith (training curate) and her family. Following the service there will be a church lunch which will give plenty of opportunity to meet Mia and Martin and their children Nat, Aidan, Naomi and Iona. Mia will be ordained at Lichfield Cathedral on Saturday 29th June at 6 p.m. and will begin her new role as curate in the parish of Bayston Hill on Sunday 30th June. Please do continue to pray for Mia and the family as they embark on a new chapter together.

Christ Church Picnic in the Park

On Sunday 21st July we will be holding a church picnic at The Quarry in town at 1 p.m. Please come along with your own packed lunch so that we can spend time together and hopefully enjoy a relaxing chat, stroll or some games. Please invite friends and family to join us. We will meet next to the bronze statue of St. Michael near the gates opposite St. Chad’s.

Church Values

During the summer term the PCC will be finalising our church values - the things that we demonstrate to be of importance to us. We will explore each of our values in our Sunday morning and home group programme. Our church values are very important. Each of our expressions of church will need to be built upon them even though each expression will look very different. Watch out for more information.

Back to School Sunday

Whether you feel like cheering or crying at the thought of a new school year starting - Back to School Sunday recognises how returning to school is a big deal for many. Whether starting a new term is daunting and challenging, or filled with anticipation and excitement, we want to help children and young people, staff and parents get off to the best start possible - with God’s help.

loving God, living His adventure

As we look to love God and live his adventure together, I encourage each of us to ask God what part of his work he is calling us to join in with. To help us, let’s continue to pray that God will strengthen us to follow Jesus so that we can share with others the grace and gifts he has given to us.
