Hello there,

As the summer months are almost upon us, Christ Church has just enjoyed a wonderful number of Easter acts of worship.  I hope you too were able to celebrate our risen King whatever the weekend looked like for you.  On Easter Sunday we heard a number of encouraging stories from church members regarding the new life they are seeing either through an aspect of church life or on their Frontlines.

Pioneer Youth Ministry Maternity Cover

Towards the end of May Ben Whitmarsh will begin his role as Pioneer Youth Minister covering Laura’s maternity leave.  We are thrilled to be welcoming Ben to the team and know that he will bring much to the role with his own gifts and experience.

Gift Day on Sunday 18th May

On this year’s Gift Day we will once again be trusting God for his generous provision, and encouraging each other to make our giving response.  I have written, on behalf of the PCC to every member of Christ Church regarding our giving.  I invite you to respond prayerfully - your giving is very much appreciated and makes a difference. In with the letter this year is a leaflet from the PCC highlighting the difference your giving makes. Thanks to the generous giving of Christ Church we have been able to partner in amazing work for Jesus and plan to do so in the coming year.

Later this summer…

Back by popular demand and following The One for all ages on Sunday 13th July, at 1.00 p.m. we will meet in Shrewsbury’s Quarry Park by the Bandstand for a Bring and Share Picnic. Last year’s picnic was a brilliant way to spend time together and don’t forget to bring your picnic blanket or folding chairs, frisbee and sunglasses!

Coming up this month…

Our next ONE (prayer as a church for one hour) is on Sunday 4th May at 7 p.m. Prayer is the engine room of our church community and it is essential that we continue come to together as one church. I look forward to praying with you.

Community Choir Rehearsals

The Bayston Hill Community Choir will be performing on our recording of BBC Radio Shropshire’s Pentecost service on Tuesday 3rd June.  You are invited to take part whether you’re new to the choir or have come along in previous years, to have more fun through singing.

Come along to the free rehearsals at Christ Church on;

Sunday 11th May, Sunday 18th May and Sunday 1st June at 3.00 p.m.
Choir is open to anyone aged 8 - 108 years and children must be accompanied by an adult.

Messy Church

For your diary, the next Messy Church service will take place on Wednesday 14th May from 3.45 – 6.00 pm.  A hot meal will be shared by all those coming into Christ Church and lots of messy creative activities will be on offer as we worship God together.

An evening with Stuart Townend

Stuart Townend will be visiting Christ Church on Saturday 18th May at 7:30 p.m. for an evening of performance, chat and worship. Stuart is one of the leading worship songwriters of his generation: from "How Deep the Father's Love" to "In Christ Alone", "The Power of the Cross" to "Beautiful Saviour", his songs are sung in churches and events around the world, and his lyrics acclaimed in the same breath as those of Watts and Wesley. Tickets are available from the Church Office on 01743 872088 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

And Finally...

You may know that I'm playing Pilate in a production of Jesus Christ Superstar at Theatre Severn, Shrewsbury. Two charity performances on 16th & 17th September. Talented cast and it's sure to be another great Wigle production. Tickets now available.
