July & August 2014 Newsletter
As ever it's been a busy month at Christ Church starting with a visit from Shropshire Fire & Rescue to Outlook - over 55s group who meet monthly on Mondays. Outlook leaders John & Libby Wain invited volunteer firefighters who carry out charitable work in Eastern Europe including Romania to share their experience and were presented with a certificate (pictured here) and plaque to thank the group for their support.
As we reach July the summer weather has already arrived this year! I look forward to enjoying it with as many of you as can make our Picnic in the Park on Sunday 13th July. After our morning services, we will be heading to The Quarry for 1.00 p.m. We will be meeting by the Bandstand for an afternoon of relaxing, playing games for those feeling energetic and enjoying each other's company. Bring your own picnic, drinks, something to sit on and stay for as little or as long and you can. Last year's picnic was a brilliant time and we were even serenaded by Shrewsbury Brass Band who play regularly on summer Sunday afternoons. Remember this...?
Please will you continue to join me in praying for our church community - that God will set our hearts on fire with love for him and give us the eyes and courage to join in with all that He is doing.
Whatever, summer holds for you - gardening, resting, difficult work projects, holidays or family events I am trusting that you will see God at work for good in them all.

Coffee in the Living Room
The weekly village coffee morning which takes place in Christ Church on Tuesdays between 10.00 am and Midday continues to grow and flourish. This Summer during August, Coffee in the Living Room will take a break on 22nd July and it will re-open on Tuesday 2nd September. Please pray for all those who would normally attend regularly and for the restorative break of its organising team ready for September.
As we get closer to the school summer holidays, there are also children's events which take a break at the end of the school year. Please pray for all the children and young people and their families who would usually attend many of the weekly activities at Christ Church. Please also pray for Ben and his team who will be taking young people to Soul Survivor (youth camp) this summer.
Pathways to Ministry Course
This autumn Christ Church will be hosting the Lichfield diocese Pathways to Ministry course.
This is a one year course for people who are exploring their Christian faith and discipleship and reflecting on their own particular gifts and calling. If you are interested in learning more you can read up here.
If you're thinking about planning your holidays next year consider Lee Abbey on 7th – 12th April 2015. I have been asked to speak on 'Surprised by Jesus' – an exploration of key aspects of the post resurrection Bible narrative. I would be lovely to have members from Christ Church attending with us that week. Please book direct with Lee Abbey.
You may know, I'm playing the part of Pilate in a production of Jesus Christ Superstar at Theatre Severn later this year. Two charity performances are being held on 16th & 17th September. It's a talented cast and is sure to be another great Wigle production. Tickets now available here.
